Biography
Johan Malmbeck grew up in southern Sweden, far from mountains and ski culture. Winters meant one trip a year, and for a long time skating and snowboarding came first. Then freeride films caught his attention. Skiing looked faster, looser, more expressive, so he picked up a pair of skis, finished school, and committed to a winter in the Alps. Inspired by riders like Shane McConkey, Seth Morrison, and Henrik Windstedt, Johan approaches the mountains with curiosity and progression at the core. For him, skiing is about creativity, good people, and keeping it fun rather than chasing results. Season after season, he continues to push his riding while staying grounded in why he started.
“I thought skiing just looked way gnarlier and more fun, so I bought skis and moved to France.”– Johan Malmbeck
