About MONTEC FAQ
When did MONTEC start?
MONTEC was launched in 2016, built for riders who don't stop at the resort boundary: backcountry lines, deeper snow, colder days, steeper terrain. Serious, technical gear shaped by the people who actually ride it, with the rider community calling the shots. The customer is the brand. What started in Gothenburg has gone worldwide, but the setup hasn't changed. Still privately held, independently owned. No investors, no outside shareholders.
Where is our gear designed and made?
Everything is designed in-house at our studio in Gothenburg, Sweden. That’s where fabric development, product design, and testing happen.
Manufacturing takes place at partner factories in Asia. We develop our own fabrics, set our own specs, and test everything before it ships. We own and operate our own warehouses in Europe and North America, and orders go directly from us to you.
How are our prices so much lower than other brands?
We sell directly to you. No middlemen, no retail partners, no distributor markup. The same investment goes into the fabrics and the build, without the extra cost layers that come with selling through shops. Lower price, leaner supply chain. We've done it this way from the start.
What materials and tech do we use in our gear?
We develop our own fabric systems. Our outerwear runs on SHIELD-TEC, a custom membrane built for serious waterproofing and breathability, made for long days deep in the backcountry. Fully taped seams, PFAS-free DWR, no forever chemicals.
Our fabrics are developed with bluesign® system partner mills and independently lab tested before they go into production. Nothing ships until it passes.
Gear built to keep you warm, dry, and moving from first light to the last line of the day.
How long does our gear actually last?
Built to last, not to replace. Every fabric is tested against abrasion, water, wear, and pressure before a single piece goes into production. We don't chase seasonal drops, our core styles carry over year to year, so the gear you buy keeps performing long after you bought it.
The longer it lasts on the mountain, the better, for you and for the planet.
What are we doing for sustainability?
We work with bluesign® to make sure what goes into your gear is safe for you, for the people who make it, and for the mountains we all ride. 95% of our fabrics are bluesign® approved.
Recycled polyester. PFAS-free DWR. No forever chemicals. Zero plastic in the packaging that reaches you. Our Renewed program takes flawed and returned gear, restores it, and puts it back on the mountain instead of in landfill. And we work closely with every factory in our supply chain to keep working conditions fair, from the fibre up.
We’re not done. But the most sustainable gear is the gear that lasts, and that’s where we start.
Do we sponsor athletes and host community events?
We ride with a crew of skiers and snowboarders from all over the world, from the Alps to North America. They don’t just wear the gear. They test it, break it, and tell us what to fix. That feedback shapes everything we make. After all, the customer is the brand.
Every year we bring riders to HQ for Dream Lab, where they get hands-on with our design team and help shape what comes next. Out on the mountain we run the Montec Winter Series and freeride trips through the Alps. Explore our riders and events on the site.
How do I know I'm on the real MONTEC website?
MONTEC’s only official store is montecwear.com. If you're not on it, it's not us. Fake sites pop up using similar names. We're on it.
If something looks off, contact us via live chat, messenger, or email, and we'll tell you if it's legit.

Do you offer free shipping?
Yes, always. Free shipping and free returns on every order.
Want express? You'll see the price at checkout. But the standard option is on us. No surprise customs duties either. The price at checkout is the price you pay, everything included. If you ever get charged anything extra, reach out via chat or email and we'll sort it.
Where can I track my package?
You'll get a shipping email with a tracking link as soon as the order leaves our warehouse. You can also check the "My Orders" section on the website anytime.
How do I return my order?
Log in via "My Orders" and follow the steps to register your return. Make sure the gear is unworn, tags still on, and within 30 days of purchase.
For the planet's sake, reuse the packaging if you can. Returning multiple orders in one box? Toss in all the return labels, it helps us process faster.
Once the return is received and processed, you'll get an email confirming the refund to the original payment method. We don't do exchanges. Just return what doesn't work and grab the right one from the site.
