Montec is a bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNER. Our Fall/Winter 2025 outerwear jackets and pants, mid-layers, base-layers, gloves and facemasks are bluepass certified. Here’s how the partnership and the product certification fit together.
Montec is a bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNER. That means working within the bluesign system and continuing to improve supply chain practices. It describes our partnership with the organisation, rather than certifying every item that carries our name.
Our Fall/Winter 2025 outerwear jackets and pants, mid-layers, base-layers, gloves and facemasks are bluepass certified. This announcement applies to those product categories; our beanies and socks were not included in that collection’s certification.
What is bluesign®?
bluesign is the organisation that owns and manages the certification scheme. Its system brings together brands, manufacturers and chemical suppliers to work on production processes and chemical management.
bluepass is the certification mark. Keeping the two names separate makes it easier to distinguish our partnership with bluesign from the certification information on a product.
How does the bluesign® SYSTEM work?
The bluesign system starts with inputs and manufacturing processes. Its work includes chemical management, on-site assessment and continuous improvement. For brands and suppliers, that means reviewing practices and following up on areas that need attention.
What is bluepass?
For a bluepass consumer product, the approved claim is: “To help reduce adverse impact on people and the planet, this product was made with materials produced through processes that meet bluesign Criteria for product stewardship, resource productivity, environmental protection, worker and social responsibility, including management system requirements.” Certified by bluesign technologies ag. How do material and product certification differ?
A material claim applies to the named fabric or component. It should not be read as certification of the whole garment. A finished product can carry the bluepass consumer product mark only when it meets the requirements for that certification.
What does the bluepass tag mean?
The label’s QR code, or the link at bluesign.com/verify, takes you to the bluesign-controlled verification page. It explains the certification scope for consumer products, materials and chemical products.
Wrapping up
Our partnership with bluesign and the bluepass mark serve different purposes. The partnership supports ongoing work with our supply chain; the mark identifies certification for the item or material it accompanies.
Our aim is to extend certification across our range while continuing to work with suppliers. Until then, check the information for the specific item you are choosing. Certification does not mean a garment has no environmental impact.
