Montec partners with bluesign®

Environmental consciousness and sustainability are at the forefront of everyone’s minds. And in costly industries, companies are always looking for ways to reduce the impact they have. And that’s where bluesign® comes in. They have worked tirelessly to set out strict guidelines for companies to follow in order to be as green as possible. And once a company brings its practices and processes in line with these mandates, they become what’s known as a bluesign SYSTEM PARTNER. And Montec is proud to say that they’re one of those partners!

Montec partners with bluesign® | Montec Magazine

At Montec, we’re committed to reducing our environmental footprint, and the bluesign® system is helping us do just that. As a bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNER, we ensure our supply chain uses safer chemicals, cleaner production methods, and better workplace conditions.

For Fall/Winter 2025 collection, our outerwear jackets and pants, mid-layers, base layers, gloves, and facemasks are bluesign® PRODUCT qualified, with 95% of our fabrics bluesign® APPROVED. It normally takes 5–6 years for a single product to qualify, but we’ve fast-tracked the process and certified nearly our entire range in just two! It’s all part of our mission to make gear that’s better for the planet, and the people who make it.

What is bluesign®?

bluesign® is a globally recognised certification system that helps brands clean up their supply chains. It’s all about making sure the materials and processes behind their gear are as safe and sustainable as possible, without compromising on performance. That means working with factories to reduce harmful chemicals, cut down on water and energy use, and improve worker safety and conditions.

So when a product is bluesign® certified, what it really says is that it’s been made with the environment and the people making it in mind. From the raw fabrics right through to the finished products, everything’s been scrutinised and held to some of the toughest standards in the industry.

How does the bluesign® SYSTEM work?

Instead of just checking the final product, the bluesign® SYSTEM starts at the source: raw materials and manufacturing. It helps factories reduce harmful chemicals, cut waste, and improve worker safety at the source. It’s not just a label, it’s an ongoing dedication to cleaner, safer production.

What is a bluesign® PRODUCT?

A bluesign® PRODUCT must be made with at least 90% bluesign® APPROVED fabrics for outerwear, 100% for next-to-skin (base layer) products, and at least 30% bluesign® APPROVED accessories such as zippers, drawstrings, and packaging. This ensures the product meets strict environmental, health, and safety standards throughout the supply chain.

What does bluesign® APPROVED mean?

If something’s bluesign® APPROVED, it means that the fabric or component passed all the safety and environmental checks. You’ll often see this on materials even if the full product isn’t certified, and is still a solid sign of responsible production.

What do the bluesign® tags mean?

If something is “bluesign® APPROVED”, it means the material or component meets their criteria. A “bluesign® PRODUCT” means the whole item is up to their standards. The more blue tags, the better. Each one is proof your gear’s been made the right way.

Wrapping up
