Best suited to

Both the Dune and Doom are designed for all-mountain versatility. But they excel in slightly different ways. The Dune’s pullover construction and oversized fit make it ideal for resort laps, park sessions, and off-piste powder hunting. The Dune offers excellent waterproofing and optional insulation depending on your layering setup or usual riding conditions. Just throw the Dune on and ride all day.

Although the Doom features the same protection and insulation options as the Dune, it's slightly more versatile for tackling big terrain, backcountry exploration, and longer mountain days. The Doom blends the convenience of a traditional jacket opening with the style of a pullover. The full-front zipper with an inner placket provides easier cooling off when needed – especially when hiking or touring.

Important features

Important features

Each jacket is fully loaded with features to handle everything from park laps to backcountry tours. Both designs have a storm-ready, helmet-compatible hood, waterproof zippers, underarm vents, and an elasticated snow skirt to keep powder out on deep days. The Dune stands out with its large triple-pocket system on the front, ideal for stashing gloves or goggles when on the move. The Dune’s side-zip opening also makes entry easier compared to traditional anoraks.

The Doom swaps the big front pouch for a cleaner layout, offering a dedicated external media pocket, handwarmer pockets, and internal mesh dump storage for bigger items. Both jackets include oversized gusseted sleeves for use with larger or cuffed gloves, wrist gaiters for comfort, and fully adjustable hems to fine-tune your fit.

Dune and Doom use Montec’s top-tier technical construction. This includes Montec’s SHIELD-TEC recycled polyester shell, with 20k/20k waterproofing and breathability, and a PFAS-free DWR treatment that helps water bead off the jacket’s surface. Fully taped seams round out the weather protection for all-day reliability.

Both jackets are available as a lined shell or lightly insulated. The insulated version has 60gsm Comfortemp in the body and 40gsm in the sleeves for balanced warmth. The Dune and Doom are also bluesign® Approved products, meaning their materials and production meet the highest environmental and ethical standards.

Wrapping up

The Dune is perfect if you love the classic pullover look and don’t mind throwing it on over your head. Meanwhile, the Doom offers the versatility of a full-zip design, making it easier to layer and vent. However, at the end of the day, you can’t go wrong with either jacket. Both are fully featured, highly technical, and made to perform anywhere on the mountain. Plus, the Dune and Doom deliver Montec’s trusted build quality and unbeatable all-mountain performance.
