Age: 24
Hometown: Mödling, Austria

At just 24 years old, Austrian snowboarder Sarah Bacher has already carved out a place for herself in the freeride scene, with her eyes now set on the Freeride World Tour 2026. Born in Mödling and now based in Innsbruck, Sarah has grown from lapping her local ski hill as a kid to chasing big mountain lines and exploring the full lifestyle that snowboarding offers.

Since joining Montec in 2022, she’s been bringing her creativity, drive, and passion for the mountains into everything she does - from filming projects with friends to pushing her own riding further every season. For Sarah, snowboarding is more than just a sport. It’s patience, progression, and respect for the mountains, but also joy, freedom, and the unforgettable moments shared with a crew on a bluebird powder day.

We caught up with Sarah to hear more about her journey, her inspirations, and what keeps her motivated both on and off the snow.

I started my snowboarding journey at six years old, when my mom first taught me how to ride. I was hooked right away, and I’ve never looked back.

How did your snowboarding journey begin, and what do you remember most about those first days?

I started my snowboarding journey at six years old, when my mom first taught me how to ride. Before long, I was spending full days at our local ski resort, riding with friends, exploring every run, and falling in love with the mountains. I was hooked right away, and I’ve never looked back.

How did your connection with Montec start, and what does being part of the team mean to you?

My connection with Montec began in 2022, and I was so excited when the opportunity came up. Since then, I’ve been proud to represent the Montec crew. For me, it’s about pushing my riding, creating projects together, and growing alongside people who share the same passion for snowboarding and the mountain lifestyle.

What’s been the most surprising lesson snowboarding has taught you - on or off the mountain?

The most surprising lesson snowboarding has taught me is patience. Progress in snowboarding doesn’t happen overnight - you have to fall, get back up, and keep trying until things click. Along the way, I’ve learned how important it is to really know yourself: to recognize your strengths, to push your riding further when the moment feels right, and to hold back when it’s safer to wait. Snowboarding has also taught me valuable lessons about mountain safety and respect for nature. Being prepared, reading the conditions, and never underestimating the power of the mountains are things I carry with me both on and off the snow.

What does a perfect day on snow look like for you, from first lift to last run?

A perfect day snowboarding is a bluebird powder day. I like to wake up early, do some yoga, grab breakfast on the way, and head out with a great crew to one of my favorite ski resorts. From first chair to last run, it’s all about chasing fresh powder lines, sending cliffs, throwing tricks, and enjoying the mountains together. Whether it’s inbounds or exploring freeride terrain, the best part is sharing those moments with friends. And the perfect ending is everyone safe, happy, and sitting down to a good meal to refuel.

What’s been a highlight or proud moment in your snowboarding journey so far?

Definitely qualifying for the Freeride World Tour 2026. I had been chasing this goal for years, and when the dream finally became reality, I felt incredibly proud. Reaching that level in freeride snowboarding has been one of the biggest highlights of my journey so far.

What keeps you inspired when you’re off the snow?

When I’m off the snow, I stay inspired by chasing other passions that keep me moving. Whether it’s training, exploring new places, or spending time outdoors with friends and family, staying active in different ways keeps my energy and creativity high. That balance in the off-season makes me feel ready to give my best once winter returns.

If you could ride anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would it be and why?

If I could ride anywhere tomorrow, it would be Alaska. Seeing snowboard films shot in Alaska has always made me imagine what it would be like to ride those mountains. The scale of the peaks, the untouched freeride lines, and the raw power of the terrain make it feel like the ultimate challenge, and at the same time the purest kind of freedom. That combination is exactly what draws me to snowboarding.

Looking ahead, what excites you most about this season and beyond?

What excites me most about this season is pushing myself further and stepping outside my comfort zone. I’m looking forward to exploring new terrain, chasing fresh lines, and continuing to progress my snowboarding. Beyond this season, I’m excited for the adventures still to come, the challenges ahead, and the connections that the snowboarding community and lifestyle continue to bring into my life.
